The region is well known for its thermal activity and there are a number of thermal hot spots you can visit to view geysers, mud pools and the effect of sulphur on the local environment. Therapeutic mud baths and thermal spas are dotted throughout the city and are the perfect escape at the end of a busy day.

For more adventurous types, Rotorua offers Bungee jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, zorbing, cruising, kayaking, mountain biking, 4 wheel driving as well as many more thrilling experiences.

The area is also known for its Maori culture and art. There are a number of Maori villages open to visitors while a diverse range of galleries display Maori painting, sculpture and carving.

Rotorua is set against the scenic shores of Lake Rotorua and is nestled beneath a stunning mountain range. The city centre is extremely easy to get around and features charming architecture as well as a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes.
